Why we’re cheap or even free…
Most opensim hosting companies charge per region and you generally have to connect to their grid. Finding a host that is both affordable and that gives you the resources you need to run a stable sim is extremely difficult. After 9 years on Second Life, we ventured into the world of Opensim and experienced first hand how hard it can be to find a stable, affordable host so we reached out to more than 20 years of contacts in the hosting industries, drank a few beers, haggled a bit, twisted a few arms and got some of the best deals out there. Quality hardware at rockbottom prices hosted in Premium datacenters with direct routes to all major U.S. and international backbones.
What’s your refund policy?
We believe in a no-hassle, no-bs refund policy. We get it, sometimes you test the waters, and things just aren’t to your liking. We hope that’s not ever the case with us, but if it is, we understand.
You qualify for a full refund within 7 days if:
You’re a first time customer.
You didn’t use a discount code to sign up.
Otherwise all sales are final. Discount codes have no cash value. You must Contact Us within 7 calendar days of your invoice date to qualify for a refund. Refunds will be issued to the payment source used to place the order and any associated VPS/memberships/data/backups will be terminated. Please allow 2 – 5 business days for your refund to process.
Why there’s games…
One thing we noticed straight away is that while there is certainly plenty of content out there, OpenSim faces the same problem new Second Life regions face; your sim can be the most beautiful, amazing world in the metaverse but how do you get people there? The answer on Second Life has been fishing and scavenger hunting for many years, but before that it was Casinos. Before the great Casino Purge back when Linden allowed them, they were all the rage. So we did some digging, picked a few lawyers’ brains and came up with a Fully Legal solution that allows our users to play our casino games, earn rewards, and still stay within the confines of U.S. gambling laws.
What’s the deal with the insane # of CPUs?
Most Opensim grids shy away from VPS hosting because it generally causes lag, this is due to the fact that at best you’ll get access to 4 vCPUs or 4 cores of that host machine’s physical CPUs shared with God knows how many other users, usually 80-90% capacity doing God knows what.
By tailoring our services specifically to Opensim Dreamworld, we are able to give access to up to 24 vCPU cores on a “fair share” policy. That policy is pretty simple, when your sim needs the CPU for something it sends a request like normal, our XenServer hosting system automatically grants CPU access based off of “priority”. The higher your membership level, the higher your CPU priority. But to keep things fair, we limit each node to a handful of users, roughly 60% capacity. Due to our contracts with various datacenters, we get our servers very cheap and pass on those savings to you!
Is my data private/secure?
Absolutely. We take data security very seriously. Each virtual machine is kept in it’s own “container” which is completely isolated from other systems (except through regular internet channels obviously). Your data can not be accessed by anyone else and vice versa. Our staff maintain an administrator account on all VPS’ for maintenance and support purposes, but do not login to any systems without your express consent.
Do I have to run Dreamworld’s version of Opensim?
No! You’re free to run any distribution of Dreamworld that will run on a Windows operating system or any other uses within our Acceptable Usage Policy.
Can I take OARs/IARs of my content?
YES! You have unrestricted Administrator access to your VPS, which includes full console access to Opensim.
How do I renew my service?
Depending on which membership option you chose, you will be rebilled either weekly or monthly. Paypal should process the subscription automatically, if not it will try again in a few days. If we do not receive payment within 3 days we will suspend your VPS. If we do not receive payment within 7 days at that point (10 days total) your VPS and all it’s data will be permanently deleted.
How do I upgrade/downgrade my service?
To upgrade or downgrade your service simply purchase the membership level you wish to switch to. Please note that the package are not pro-rated, meaning when you upgrade or downgrade that package takes effect immediately and any remaining time or funds paid are lost. Refunds will not be granted due to upgrade/downgrades, please only change plans at/near your billing cycle.
How do I cancel my service?
Cancellation is easy and you can do so at any time. Cancellations take effect immediately and your VPS will be taken offline within 24hrs of membership cancellation. Backups will not be provided, please make sure you have retrieved any data from your VPS prior to cancelling your membership. To cancel go to My Account and then Cancel under the membership you wish to discontinue.
Can I have more than 1 VPS?
At the current time you can only have 1 VPS per account/membership. However you can create multiple accounts, just use a different email address on each.
